Eligibility recorded

This grant provides support towards the costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints at residential properties when also installing a cross-pavement charging solution (e.g. a cable channel). The cross-pavement solution must not be a temporary solution, such as cable covers or mats which can be placed on top of a cable. Public authority permissions The cross-pavement charging solution market is developing and a number of local authorities have been establishing or trialling policies for their area. However, not all local authorities and devolved administrations currently approve their installation. Where cross-pavement charging solutions are permitted you should contact your local highways and planning authorities to obtain permissions required. Local Highways authority permission: Installation of a cross-pavement charging solution will require your local highways authority’s consent. You must contact your local highways authority to apply for and agree the installation of your cross-pavement solution in line with their policies. You must not install cross-pavement solutions on the public road network yourself. Your grant application will need to evidence your local highways authority consent for installation of your cross-pavement solution. Planning permission: From 21 October 2026, new permitted development rights in England allow cross-pavement solutions and the associated charge points to be installed using permitted development rights when fitted installated together. Planning permission may still be required in certain situations (for example if you live in a conservation area or listed building). You can check with your local planning authority. You will need to declare in your grant application that you will obtain planning permission, if required. Third party permissions Outside of the permissions set out above, you must get all necessary third-party permissions, such as from a landlord, freeholder or managing agent of a flat, before you apply for the grant and install a chargepoint on the property. There are some instances where private landowners control and manage the road and you may need to secure additional permissions in these instances. Parking The property must have access to on-street parking that is generally available outside or near your home, lawful and does not prejudice the safety and free flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Your planning and highways authorities (or where applicable private landowners) will determine whether a cross-pavement charging solution is suitable to serve your property. This grant does not confer ownership over, exclusive use of, or reserved access to any on-street parking space outside of or near to your home and cannot guarantee you a parking space. You therefore may not have constant access to the funded chargepoint. You will not be eligible for this grant if you have private and exclusive access to off-street parking such as a driveway, garage or residential car park. Vehicle Requirements This grant is only for people who have vehicles on the list of OZEV-approved electric vehicles . You can apply for this grant if you: Are the registered keeper of a new or second-hand eligible electric vehicle – the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner of a vehicle, but the person responsible for the car that pays for road tax and MOT. Are assigned a company car. Lease an eligible vehicle. Are named by your employer as the primary user of an eligible electric vehicle. Have ordered an eligible electric vehicle. Vehicle Leases If your vehicle lease is a bundle with a chargepoint, it must: State that you own the chargepoint once payment is complete Itemise the cost of the chargepoint and installation, including VAT Ensure the chargepoint warranty meets the grant requirements Ensure the associated vehicle lease is for at least 6 months You must show your installer proof that you own or lease your electric vehicle. Property Requirements This grant is for domestic properties only. You must own or rent the property and be a resident at the property. You will not be eligible for this grant if you have private and exclusive access to off-street parking such as a driveway, garage or residential car park The grant cannot be given if the installation of the chargepoint and / or infrastructure was a mandatory requirement (e.g. to comply with Building Regulations Part S in England). Grant eligible installers and chargepoints You must use an OZEV approved installer to complete the installation of the chargepoint: Find a grant eligible chargepoint installer. Your chosen installer must ensure that they observe the safety requirements which can be found in the supporting documents. You must also ensure that they install an eligible chargepoint model: Grant eligible residential chargepoints . People who cannot apply You cannot apply if you: Have already installed your chargepoint as this grant cannot be backdated – please note the chargepoint must not be installed before OZEV confirms you are eligible for a grant. Have already claimed a grant for your residence under the Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant for renters or flat owners or its predecessors - the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) or the Domestic Recharge Scheme Are moving house or planning on moving Have a current chargepoint and want a new one, even if a new car is not compatible with the current one Want to move an existing chargepoint to a new property Have private and exclusive access to off-street parking such as a driveway, garage or residential car park Will not be installing a cross-pavement charging solution alongside the chargepoint
